de Pure – leucite glass ceramics for metal-ceramic dental restorations

Engineering and production of high-quality leucite glass ceramics for dental laboratories is a natural stage in the development of Rhein Feigen. Leucite glass ceramics came to replace conventional ceramics, based on feldspar.

Leucite is formed in the glass-ceramic by increasing the content of potassium oxide (K2O) in the aluminosilicate glass. Depending on the content of leucite in the total volume of glass ceramics, there are two types of leucite dental ceramics. Feldspar ceramics contain low to moderate amounts of leucite. Leucite is added to these materials to increase the coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of the material so that they can be applied to metals and zirconia. The amount of leucite in the glass ceramics depends on what type of core it has and its CTE. These materials are typically powder-paste materials used for ceramic inlays / linings, as well as ideal materials for ceramic veneers. The first generations of these materials had a rather random size and distribution of leucite crystals, their average particle size of was about 20 μm. This random distribution and large particle size adversely affected the resistance of the material to fractures and the abrasive properties of the enamel. Newer generations of leucite containing materials have been developed with much thinner leucite crystals and a very uniform distribution of particles throughout the glass. These materials are less abrasive and have significantly higher bending strengths.

Advantages of leucite glass ceramics system de Pure

The main advantages of the de Pure system are its high strength and aesthetics. Also, this material has a high biological compatibility - it does not cause any negative reactions from the body.

Dental technicians highly appreciated the convenience of working with the de Pure system. This is especially important when there are a lot of materials from different manufacturers on the market.

Technicians need to look to the following reasons for switching to the new material:

  • Ease of handling
Thanks to the continuous improvement of the de Pure system, the end result is predictable
  • Minimum shrinkage
Leucite serves as filler in the crystal structure of glass ceramics. The presence of the filler minimizes shrinkage and avoids the need for corrective firing.
  • Natural color rendition
Aesthetics is one of the main factors in the choice of a particular ceramic material. Even after several firings, de Pure system materials reproduce color without distortion.
